McAfee SaaS Email Protection

Welcome to PlexHosted!

Thank you for choosing PlexHosted as your Hosted Exchange and McAfee SaaS Email Protection service provider.

Please take a few minutes to carefully read this guide and review our knowladge base at http://plexhosted.com/billing/knowledgebase. Doing so will allow you to easily and successfully get your McAfee SaaS Email Protection service up and running. If you don't find the answer to your question on our support site, you can email us any time at support@plexhosted.com for further assistance.

Let's get started!

  • Step 1: Sign in to the McAfee Control Console.

    Control Console URL: https://plexhosted.portal.mcafeesaas.com

This guide will show you how to sign in to the McAfee Control Console for the first time: How to sign in to the McAfee Control Console

  • Step 2: Setup Inbound Servers.

Go to the Email Protection – Setup tab. In the Inbound Servers section click on Add Host.

Please use the following settings to setup the inbound server:

    • SMTP Host Address: exchange.plexhosted.com
    • Port: 25
    • Preference: 1
    • Active checkbox: checked
    • Enforce TLS checkbox: do not check

Click on Test Connectivity, and if succeeded click on Save.

  • Step 3: Changing User Creation settings.

In the Email Protection – Setup tab go to User Creation Settings and change the mode from SMTP Discovery to Explicit.

SMTP Discovery option – auto creates users when there are eight e-mails in a 24 hour period. This is the default option. This can result in the creation of invalid user addresses, diminishing the validity of the Control Console reporting. It is strongly recommended that you do NOT use this option.

Explicit option – means that all users will be created manually (either each individually or via batch upload) by a user with a Customer Administrator role.

  • Step 4: Redirecting the MX Records.

Please skip this step if you have ordered Exchange service with free *.plexhosted.net subdomain.

To activate your McAfee SaaS Email Protection service you need to change your MX records to McAfee servers. You will need to change your MX records in your DNS control panel.

It is strongly recommended that you redirect all your MX Records to prevent unfiltered email from being accepted into your email system. Change the MX records to:
