How to create users at the McAfee Control Console

    This guide will show you how to create user accounts at the McAfee Control Console.

    All Exchange accounts with McAfee SaaS Email Protection service enabled.
  • Prerequisite

    • An Exchange account with McAfee anti-spam/anti-virus service enabled.

  • Introduction: At the McAfee Control Console Customer Admin can create user accounts using 2 methods – Individual and Batch upload. The first method is used when you need to create several users or you want to assign passwords for users while creating. The second method is used when you have a list with numerous users and want to create them all at once.

  • How to

Method 1 – Create each user individually.

  1. Sign in to the McAfee Control Console as Customer Administrator. (https://plexhosted.portal.mcafeesaas.com).
  2. Navigate to the Account Management - Users tab.
  3. Click the New button on the users toolbar.
  4. Leave the creation mode as is. It is Individual by default.
  5. In the email address field enter the email address of new user. Once you input the Email Address, select the primary domain in which this user will reside. The domains display in a drop list only if you have more than one Primary Domain.
  6. Choose the role for your user and select User in the Type field.
  7. You can specify a password for this user, or a user can create password himself when signing in to the Control Console for the first time.
  8. Populate or select any optional fields
  9. Click Save.

Method 2 - Create user accounts via Batch file upload:

  1. Prepeare a .txt or .csv file with list of users to be created. The size of this file must be not more than 100Kb. The Batch file must be in the following format:
    Fully qualified email address, followed by a comma, username (in the domain\username format), followed by a comma, fully qualified user alias

    If you do not want to specify username or a user doesn’t have an alias the list will look like:
    Fully qualified email address, , fully qualified user alias
    or
    Fully qualified email address, ,
  2. Sign in to the McAfee Control Console as Customer Administrator. (https://plexhosted.portal.mcafeesaas.com).
  3. Navigate to the Account Management - Users tab.
  4. Click the New button on the users toolbar.
  5. Change the Creation Mode to Batch.
  6. Click Browse, and locate the .txt or .csv file containing users.
  7. Click Upload
  8. Specify the optional fields.
  9. Click Save.
  10. Note: When you create users via Batch file upload, you cannot assign passwords to them. Each user needs to create their own password when signing in to the Control Console for the first time.
